A Tenderized America

After reading an article about the inappropriateness of dodgeball and other games like musical chairs, I have made up my mind on whether they truly should be banned from P.E. class.

Kids need to have fun and be safe in P.E. They also need to learn that not everything is not going to be nice and happy. They need to accept the fact that their are always winners and losers. When they grow up, they are not always going to get into the school or job they want. Some people might be better than them and that is something that we all have to deal with.

So is dodgeball good or bad? Absolutely good like another article says. It's a game where you learn from your mistakes. I am not good at dodgeball but I still enjoy playing it. I like the thrill I get when I dodge and jump and swerve to avoid getting hit. America is just going to get softer if dodgeball is banned.

  1. It seems like there are plenty of third alternatives to this ban/don't ban debate. I can see lots of possibilities where rules are put in place that reduce or eliminate the bullying, and still offer all students a chance to keep moving. This debate has become extremely political, and it shows a profound lack of imagination on the part of those who say that dodgeball necessarily causes X or Y or Z.

Dodgeball is not inherently bad. Therefore if bad things start to happen, address those things. It seems unfair to take it out on the game itself.

  2. I agree with you, learning from your mistakes is a good lesson to master. Many people do not master that lesson. So when they apply for a job and get brutally denied, they immediately give up and do not try to apply for another job. So if we do not start learning from our mistakes know, then we will never be able to take rejection well.
