Speak Journal #2

In the book Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson, finding your voice is one of the morals of the story, as well as free speech. What does free speech mean to me? To me, it's being able to say whatever it is that's on your mind. The ability to not let let others' judgement stand in the way of your own opinions and beliefs'.
If you have something to say, don't let it go unheard.  Silence isn't always golden.

I think that if it doesn't seriously harm another person, you shouldn't get in trouble for saying it and should have that right. In the book, a student named David Petrakis expresses what's on his mind into words, outshining  his history teacher lecture on how immigrants are taking all the jobs aaway from the people who deserve them- Americans. David must have felt Mr.  Neck had no authority when saying what he said, thus giving David an urge to speak and fight back. I think he said what he needed to get across.
